Liberty

ComRes conducted focus groups among young Muslim men and quantitative research among MPs and Peers to support civil rights group Liberty’s campaign against an extension of the period of detention without charge for terrorism offences.  The qualitative aspect provided evidence of the likely impact of the government’s policy, while the quantitative research uncovered considerable unease on the government benches about the proposals.

The programme of research enabled Liberty to communicate its campaign messages confident in the knowledge of their evidence base, and Liberty’s quantitative research was reported extensively in the media, including The Independent, Guardian, Financial Times, Telegraph as well as The Daily Mail and Daily Mirror.  The item led news bulletins on the Today programme.
