ComRes Instant Polls for ITV News

ComRes today announced that, over the course of the past three leaders debates, their automated telephone methodology has enabled them to survey more than 9,000 respondents in less than 19 minutes.

The final tally from the three instant polls for ITV News were:

15 April             4032                 6m 53s

22 April             2691                 5m 59s

29 April             2372                 5m 52s

TOTAL              9095                 18m 44s

Andrew Hawkins, Comres Chairman, said

“Polling on this scale and at this speed has never been done before in the UK: this is truly a first.”

“The instant polls worked fantastically well.  Not only did our instant polls deliver the largest sample sizes by a large margin, they also enabled us to go beyond the ‘who won?’ questions by delving more deeply into how viewers responded to the leader debates.  This success was down to rigorous planning and exhaustive system testing, and working with some excellent partners who shared our desire to push the boundaries beyond what was hitherto possible.”
